Workforce Development fundraising Campaign!
Join us in supporting the next generation of skilled, diverse theater artists by contributing to our Workforce Development Program! This year we are accepting 6 participants to receive approximately 60 hours of hands-on training from experienced members of the Cal Scenic staff.
Why do we need your financial support?
Providing hands-on skills training is expensive! Our inaugural cohort in 2024 was funded by a generous grant from the California Arts Council. While we are applying for grant funding for future years, our timeframe is not realistic for this year. We are committed to providing this training, but need your support to fund the 2025 cohort and ensure the sustainability of the program.
What are the costs associated with the WFD program?
Our goal is to raise $20,000 to cover staff and participant compensation, materials, equipment, and overhead.
Why do we compensate the participants?
Historically, theater artists and technicians have gained critical entry level experience through unpaid internships. This limited participation in our industry to individuals who had financial support and could afford to volunteer their time. By compensating individuals for training, we are creating a more accessible path into the theater industry.
Please, spread the word and help us train the next generation of theater artists!
