Workforce Development

Education and on-the-job training is part of our shop culture year-round. To further that mission and expand access to our industry, last year we led a cohort of 12 people through a two-week paid intensive training program and we are very excited to continue this work.

As part of this intensive, students will learn how to excel in a shop environment with lectures and practical training in safety procedures, reading scale drawings, tool identification and use, carpentry, steel fabrication, and scenic painting. Scenic construction is a unique combination of art and construction, and requires a specific combination of skills. By the end of the course, students should have the skills and knowledge to pursue entry level employment in scenic construction and painting.

This opportunity is designed as a path into the industry. No previous experience is required. We strive for an inclusive work environment and work to actively embrace a diversity of people, ideas, talents, and experiences. We highly encourage people of color, individuals with disabilities, and other historically underrepresented groups in our community to apply.

We will begin accepting applications for the 2025 cohort in January.
